Music teachers in tune with you.

Personality and teaching style matter. Find a perfect match right away!

How it works

Find your teacher in three steps

  1. Tell us what you want

Start with your instrument and your ZIP code or town. Then, if you like, a few quick preferences: the teacher's personality and teaching style, the style of music, and lessons in person or online.

  2. See your matches

See teachers who teach your instrument, style of music and age group, each with a match score for how well they fit. Open any card to read the teacher's bio, the ages and levels they teach, and their price.

  3. Connect for free

Press Connect me! and send the teacher your name, email address and a note. The teacher contacts you directly to set up a first lesson. No account, and no cost.

More about how it works

Why fit matters

The right teacher isn't just the closest one

Two good teachers can be a very different fit for the same student. Beyond the instrument and where you are, we match on:

  • Teaching style — structured and exam-focused or relaxed and exploratory, for example.
  • Personality — patient and encouraging or high-energy and fun, for example.
  • Level and age — teachers who teach your level and the student's age.
  • In person or online — whichever suits you.

A match score shows how closely a teacher fits what you told us. It's not a rating of how good they are.

Safety

Choosing a teacher is your decision

Teachers write their own profiles, and we don't verify what they say. We don't run background checks or check identity. If the lessons are for a child, meet the teacher first, and decide how the child's lessons are supervised.

Three tips for a first lesson

  1. Talk before you book. Ask about the teacher's experience with students like you and what a typical lesson looks like.
  2. For a child, have a parent or guardian at the first lesson, or hold it somewhere open where others are around.
  3. Agree on the price, the schedule and what happens if a lesson is missed before you start.

Questions

Common questions

Does it cost anything?

No. Searching, connecting with teachers and paying invoices by card are free for students and families. You pay your teacher for lessons, at their price.

Do I need an account?

No. You can search, connect with a teacher and pay an invoice without one.

What does the match score mean?

How closely a teacher fits what you told us: the level, teaching style, personality and lesson format you're looking for. The instrument, style of music and the student's age decide which teachers you see in the first place. The score isn't a rating of how good a teacher is, and each student sees their own.

How do I pay?

However your teacher accepts payment. If they invoice through Right Music Teacher, you can pay by card from the email link, with no account and no fee. Refunds are your teacher's decision; if you can't agree, email support@rightmusicteacher.com.
